In trying to cook with long term food storage items, I discovered that I could make healthier food for less money, rotate my food storage, and be better prepared in case I ever really had to depend on it. I don’t claim to be an expert on food storage, but over the past two years I’ve learned a lot of tips and tricks that I wanted to record and share, with the hope that they may be helpful to others.

Many food storage websites rightly focus on being prepared for major disasters that would require living off of food storage exclusively without power for an extended period of time. I have chosen to focus on the most common and likely needs of food storage–to utilize food storage items to save money during challenging economic times. If you are one of the millions of people somehow affected by the current economic slowdown, this website is for you, whether you already have food storage or not.

I’m a twenty-something Latter-day Saint (Mormon) who is experimenting and learning what food storage techniques work for me and my young family.
